The Power of Two: Trauma Tapping Technique with Partner

Sarah Murphy, LPC • October 25, 2022

If you or someone you know experiences a traumatic experience, you can tap together and release the trauma quickly.

A quick and effective way to release trauma is to tap on a series of points on your body, practicing a technique called the Trauma Tapping Technique. This simple body-based technique can be even more powerful when you tap with someone else. Either solo or paired, it helps your body release emotions and relax, and helps you shift your perception and see with greater clarity.

If you want to do it with someone else, you can either do it together, or if you're comfortable, they can do it for you while you relax and receive.

Practice the technique right now by following along with the video below, presented by the Peaceful Heart Network's Ulf and Gunilla. You can also download written instructions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

 Why It Works

By using energy psychology techniques like the Trauma Tapping Technique, you help your body release blocks and feel better. When you tap with someone else, you also get the benefit of boundaried human touch, and you amplify your impact. This allows you to reduce feelings of trauma quickly and easily. It is also helpful for healing post-traumatic distress, and will help you any time you are in distress.

If you haven’t given the Trauma Tapping Technique a try yet, do it now. Take notice of how your body feels both before and after you use the technique. This technique is just one of many you can use to release trauma.

More Techniques to Reduce Stress Quickly

If you found the Trauma Tapping Technique helpful, here are a few more tools you can use to reduce stress: Easy Thought Field Therapy and Simple EFT. All of the videos and techniques in our "Try This" series were created by ACEP's Humanitarian Committee in order to help people heal by spreading the word about the powerful effects of energy psychology techniques. We invite you to help by sharing this information!

David Feinstein, not to anyone’s surprise, has contributed yet another groundbreaking paper to the field of energy psychology. This one focuses on the physiological mechanisms that appear to explain how tapping actually works. While empirical verification of effectiveness is vital—and we’ve come a very long way toward establishing that—it’s a bit more complicated to credibly pinpoint the physiology behind those results.

When you have been through a trauma and are feeling shocked, try bouncing up and down on the balls of your feet. You can also sit in a chair and massage your heel and ankle areas. The Heel Shock Release is a simple body-based technique that will help you reawaken your energy system. The technique comes to us from Donna Eden . Practice the technique right now by watching the video below and following along. Remember to try it next time you are feeling exhausted but can’t take a nap! You can also download written instructions in English , Spanish , and Portuguese .
