Can't Sleep? Try This.

Learn a simple energy-based tool that can help with a lot of things – including insomnia.

One of the fastest and most effective ways to overcome insomnia is to tap on a series of acupressure points, practicing a technique called Easy TFT (thought field therapy)*. This simple body-based technique can help you fall asleep. This technique was developed by Roger Callahan and adapted by Suzanne Connolly.

The video below is presented by ACEP's TFT trainer Suzanne Connolly. She is an expert TFT practitioner, teacher, and researcher. You can check out the video and follow along to see how you feel. And the next time you can’t sleep, you can give it a try!

You can also download written instructions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

How it Works

Tap the inside corners of your eyebrows, under your eyes, under your arms, and under your collarbones. Follow along with Suzanne Connolly on the video, and she will demonstrate other tapping points as well.

Why It Works

A disruption in the flow of energy through your meridians can lead to problems sleeping. The gentle tapping of Easy TFT  helps your energy flow again by clearing blocks along your meridians.

This technique is also helpful if you are bothered by upsetting memories, feel stressed out, or need to leave the past in the past. If you haven’t given easy TFT a try yet, do it now. Note how your body feels both before and after you use the technique.

This is just one of many you can use to reduce stress and reduce feelings of upset. ACEP’s humanitarian committee compiled a series of techniques to address a variety of problems. They are all available at www.r4r.energypsych.org. We owe the team a debt of gratitude!

More Techniques to Overcome Insomnia

If you found easy TFT helpful, here are a few more tools you can use to help with insomnia: Cooks Hookup and simple EFT.

All the videos and techniques in our "Try This" series were created by ACEP's Humanitarian Committee in order to help people heal by spreading the word about the powerful effects of energy psychology techniques. We invite you to help by sharing this information!

In May 2025, a remarkable and unprecedented event occurred: for the very first time, Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) was officially integrated into a Master’s program in psychotherapy within a faculty of medicine in Africa — at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, Senegal. This milestone marks a turning point in the global history of tapping-based therapies. It ushers in a new era where energy psychology methods such as EFT are now institutionally recognized not only as complementary approaches, but also as potentially foundational tools for mental health care in low-resource contexts.
